Table Lamp from Vintage Royal Delft Blue—Lodden

€1,490.00

Meet Lodden a one-of-a-kind lamp lovingly handcrafted from a gorgeous, vintage, hand-painted Royal Delfts (De Proceleyne Fles) Delft Blue (Delfts Blauw) vase. The exquisite ribbed vase (or pul), which forms the base of the lamp, was handmade and hand-painted by one of Royal Delft’s master painters in a floral motif with a peacock. It was made in 1940, as indicated by the Royal Delft year marking BJ on the bottom.

Perfect for “more is more”, blue and white lovers, we’ve paired the base with a custom lampshade made with fabric from Morris & Co. Originally designed by William Morris, one of the founders of the Arts & Crafts movement, the 'Lodden' print was produced as a fabric named after tributaries of the River Thames in 1883. Great care has been taken to maintain the marks, textures and colours of the hand block-printed fabric.

Make Me Yours

De Porceleyne Fles, later given the distinction of Koninklijke or Royal, known now as Royal Delft, is a Dutch manufacturer of Delft Blue pottery, or Delfts Blauw aardewerk, headquartered in Delft, the Netherlands. It is the only remaining ceramics factory out of 32 that were established in Delft during the 17th century. Founded in 1653, it has been active for over 360 years without interruption. Royal Delft is not only the oldest surviving producer of Delftware, but one that is highly respected for its artistry. The motifs on Delft Blue ceramics find their roots in the Chinese porcelain from the Ming and K‟ang Hsi dynasties.
