Moodboard Magic: Interior Inspiration with Delft Red

There's something incredibly magical about the way a single statement piece can inspire an entire room's design narrative. Our latest mood board, rich in shades of pinks, reds, and gold, is centered around our one-of-a-kind handcrafted Delft Red lamp, "Delfia". An exploration of color, texture, and history, we hope it invites you to envision the limitless possibilities in your own space!

Delft Red?

Delfia, one of our Delft Red Vintage Table Lamps

Delft pottery, known for its iconic blue and white hues, has a rich history that dates back to the 16th century in the Netherlands. But did you know that Delft ceramics are more than just blue and white? Delft Red, a rare and lesser-known variant offers a warm, rich palette that adds depth and vibrancy to any space.

To make this lamp, we discovered and fell in love with a gorgeous vintage Delft Red vase which was handcrafted by Ardalt in Italy (Dutch ceramics even inspired the Italians!) mid-century, between 1950-1970. We decided to pair her with a custom, contemporary straight empire lampshade in a luxurious old rose velvet, featuring a gold inner lining. This lampshade was made in an atelier near Amsterdam and is complemented by a new gold cord.

A Symphony of Colors and Textures

Taking Delfia as the launch point, we found other pieces we fell in love with that we could imagine her hanging out with, so to speak ; )

We originally created the mood board as a Valentine’s Day design inspiration. But in reality, you might not want an entire room that is so red and pink, but as a starting point, it can be fun to let yourself be more free and really just choose pieces that you LOVE! Remember you are the one that has to live with them.

So, start with pieces that light you up! To give your search a bit of a direction, a bold color palette or even single color is a great way to begin. You can always pull back and add more neutrals later, but at the beginning let yourself play, explore, discover!

As example, for this mood board, we let our Delfia lamp inspire us to bring her together with :

Luxurious Textiles

Think plush pillows and pink scallop placemats with red trim, creating a soft, inviting atmosphere. Schumacher x Mark D Sikes's Ojai Stripe fabric in Red gives a classic yet warm feel. Pair with House of Hackney's Wild Card pillows in Butterscotch and Lillian August’s Leopard Fireside Chair to mix tradition with a playful contemporary edge.

Vintage and Antique Finds

Other vintage finds like, Ralph Stevenson pink English transferware dinner plates, a vintage Kilim rug and vintage French red and white striped chairs with cabriolet legs add layers of history and charm. What is so wonderful about vintage and antique pieces is that they have stories to tell and are great conversation starters!

Contemporary Classics

Design classics like the Rietveld Utrecht Armchair merge modern design with timeless appeal. It's about blending, not matching—creating spaces that are as unique and multi-faceted as the people who inhabit them.

Golden Accents

An Italian sunburst mirror, gold flatware set, and a vintage glazed gold leaf side table echo the lamp's gold inner lining and brass accents, bringing a subtle luxurious sparkle to the room.

And…Just for Fun

Why stop at decor? A red Louis Vuitton Keepall adds a touch of unexpected luxury, while a 19th Century yellow sapphire & diamonds rose gold ring is a fun addition (we’ll take it, thank you very much)!
